The course includes:

The workshop is taught by Emotional Body method founder, Laura Bond, and provides detailed information on a powerful and effective physical approach to emotion regulation. The Emotional Body® method uses physical patterns discovered in scientific research, and an instructional style informed by extensive research, somatic education theory, and fifteen years of development.

  • 23 hours of in-person instruction on the method to help you increase somatic sensing awareness and develop skills in emotion regulation and resilience.

  • Additional hours of recorded lessons and written resources to support private practice are also provided, with content enhanced and increased during and after the course ends. The pre-workshop content becomes available as soon as you register for the course and remains accessible for a full year!

  • Planning for your visit to the workshop location information is provided on the course platform. This information includes extensive lists of area attractions, restaurants, grocery stores and suggestions for places to stay.

  • All six emotional effector patterns will be taught, as well as neutral and Step Out. Lessons on their applications to day-to-day life experiences, professions, and relevance to social interactions will be addressed.

  • Detailed lessons on breathing practices, somatic methods for developing emotional expression and embodiment, as well as for establishing somatic restorative & stress reduction practices are also included.

  • Emotional Body lessons are also supported by reading recommendations from the text The Emotional Body: A Method for Physical Self-Regulation by Laura Bond. Registrants are given the opportunity to purchase the book at a special 20% off retail rate.

Instructor Bio:

Laura Bond (Lead Instructor/Trainer) is the founder of the Emotional Body® method and is a somatic practitioner and scholar dedicated to providing safe and reliable techniques for physical emotion regulation for personal expression development for all individuals and promoting somatic wellness initiatives. She is a Professor Emeritus with UNC Asheville where she taught courses on acting, directing, somatic practices for personal expression development, vocal production, and physical emotion regulation and resiliency for 27 years. In addition to over 20 years of teaching the Emotional Body method, she is a master trainer of Estill Voice Training®, and is a certified Trainer in Kinēsa®, a Feldenkrais®-Inspired Movement System for Pain Relief and Heightened Physical, Emotional & Spiritual Wellbeing. She is currently completing a year-long internationally accredited and certified Mindful Art and Meditation Teacher (MAT) training program, by the acclaimed International Mindfulness and Meditation Alliance (IMMA) and the global Mindful Art Alliance (MAA). In 2024, she also completed the Brown University's Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) course, is certified in Mental Health First Aid for adults and minors, and has trained in over 50 hours of the consent-based and trauma-informed practice of Theatrical Intimacy Education. Laura was also awarded UNCA's Ruth Paddison Distinguished Professorship (2022-2025) for promoting interdisciplinary connections between fields where she creates and supports somatic wellness initiatives.She applies her experience and training of all these methods with care and consideration for consent practices and remains trauma-informed and aware of mental health needs within her unique interdisciplinary style of teaching and coaching.
